How did this design improve life?:
Adjustable High Heel Shoes
With the 0 degree ~ 38 degree adjustable shoes, users can wear high heels the whole day without suffering the pain they often bring. Considering function and fashion, these chic shoes provide a variety of height choices, appropriate for any occasion. By pushing the release button, users can adjust to high heels, mid heels or flats, anytime and anywhere they need.
Women love high heels but usually sacrifice their comfort to put up with feet pain from high heels. Some women wear flats but carry their lovely high heels to office. They switch to their high heels in office or any other occasions.
Then I think is there any high heels that not only with trendy look but also with adjustable function that women do not need to put up with the pain from high heels anymore. And the challenge I faced was how to design an adjustable function for high heels. Besides that, I also need to consider the adjustable part need to marry with fashion look. I came out an idea which is similar to Chinese fordable hand fan. I went with this solution and add trendy elements on it.
By providing adjustable function, this Adjustable High Heel Shoes benefit women’s social life. Need a comfortable commute by walking to office in the morning? Set your shoes at flat mode. Got a date but he is shorter than you! Set shoes at half height. Get ready for enjoying a crazy Friday nightclub? Raise it up to the totally high and have fun!
In the environmentally friendly part, adjustable high heels are already providing different height choices. Women don’t have to buy at least three pairs of shoes in different height. So the result is less consumption and low cost for women’s daily life.

My project- Adjustable High Heel Shoes is for Shoes Design class. Our goal was to design shoes that should be innovative and appealing to our target users.
The problem I found for this shoes design project is that women love high heels but usually sacrifice their comfort to put up with feet pain from high heels. Some women wear flats but carry their lovely high heels to office. They switch to their high heels in office or any other occasions. Then I think is there any high heels that not only with trendy look but also with adjustable function that women do not need to put up with the pain from high heels anymore. And the challenge I faced was how to design an adjustable function for high heels. Besides that, I also need to consider the adjustable part need to marry with fashion look. So I went to different directions and tried to solve these issues.
First of all I did some fashion trends study then I went varied approaches to solve the adjustable function. At midterm presentation, I came out an idea which is similar to Chinese fordable hand fan. I went with this solution and add trendy elements on it.
From this project I learned that a good design always has to solve the user’s problems and reach users. By listening to users and observing what’s happening in their daily life are always helpful and inspirational to me.
